Tea Party in Wonderland

My niece, Reagan, turns 7 in a few days and we celebrated over the weekend! On Saturday, my sister-in-law had an amazing Tea Party in Wonderland birthday party for her! When I say the party was amazing I really mean AMAZING! My sister-in-law, April, always has the best birthday parties and I can never wait to see what she comes up with! Heck.. they are already planning for next year! They (April, my mother-in-law, and aunt-in-law… you get my point!) plan all year long and then stay up super late the night before finishing things up. This year they were up into the wee hours of the morning finishing the Alice dress my niece wore to the party.

As everyone arrived the girls grabbed their tea hats, and the boys grabbed their bow ties and top hats.

There were decorations everywhere. The party was at a local park which April picked because it had a few Wonderland themed items.

The Cheshire Cat even made an appearance!

Of course.. what is a tea party without sweets, tea sandwiches, tea cups and the oh so popular sugar cubes!

Of course – you cannot have a tea party without a game of croquet and a turn at the piƱata!

Then I took pictures of all of the kids near the fountain. They came out SO good! I plan on printing and framing the one of my little man! I must say that I surprised myself with my photography skills.

At the end of the party all of the kids got to fill their favor boxes with goodies from the ‘Queen of Hearts’ table.

Pirate Party Preparations–Part I

My youngest baby is going to be the big 2! We were going to have a farm themed party, but my husband didn’t seem too excited about it, so we agreed on a Pirate Party!

Today we started the preparations and crafting. I’ve already made some purchases and I can’t wait to share what I have so far! One month to go until party day.

My mom told me about some Pirate hats she saw in the Dollar Tree, so we headed over to see what they had. I got some GREAT deals! For $1 I was able to get a hat, hook, and eye patch!

I also found a party game, goodie bags, ‘treasure’, and pirate blowouts. For $1!!! Thanks MOM!

Today I made some trays out of Goodwill finds and bandanas from red fabric.

For the trays, I bought a few gaudy gold candlesticks and serving plates. The ones I usually pass without thinking twice. This time when I saw them – a light bulb went off! The only other supply I needed was glue – and wah-lah!

Now they are ready! I wouldn’t recommend serving food directly off of the plates though – so I am going to line mine with a piece of gold paper cut into a circle.

As for the pirate bandanas, I looked at purchasing some, but then when I priced out making my own it was going to be less than half the price! (I’m all about saving a dollar these days!)

I bought 2 yards of red fabric and cut them using my rotary cutting tool. I used my husband’s bandana to get the size right.

Then we had to try it on for size!

Stop by tomorrow – I’m going to be featuring a Pirate Party by Lizard & Ladybug!

Welcome to {Everyday is a Celebration!}

I have been trying to think of a blog that would focus on holidays and celebrations. I have been brainstorming the posts and searching for inspiration. The only thing I needed was a blog title. I just couldn’t think of the perfect title. I was sitting on the couch today and it hit me! Everyday is a Celebration! I jumped up and headed for the computer. Eight hours later I had created the blog, a few buttons, a banner, and written a few posts.

My goal is to use this blog to highlight other bloggers and their celebration crafts and recipes. I LOVE every holiday, birthdays, wedding, and baby showers. Most bring tears to my eyes as they are such joyous occasions. There is nothing like walking into a house that is decorated to the hills!

Since I just missed Valentine’s Day I am going to start out by focusing on St. Patrick’s Day, baby showers, and birthdays. I hope you’ll join me on my new journey!
