Pirate Party Preparations {Part 3}

This is the last preparation post before the actual party! Party is in 5 days and I am not stressing because I started preparing WAY in advance. Don’t ask me how I feel Thursday night though – I will probably be a stressed out mess! Luckily I work today and tomorrow but have the rest of the week off. Wednesday and Thursday you will find me in the kitchen baking! (Cake pops, cookies on a stick, death by chocolate – I can’t wait to share the recipes!)

This weekend I put together the dessert table area..here are a few sneak peaks! Sorry that these aren’t the best photos – it was late!

I sewed ruffle streamers (thanks to instructions from MADE) and help from my Wyatt.

(Yes that is dirty laundry in the background and my vintage sewing machine! LOL!)

I made rock candy which will be ‘Rubies’ for the dessert table.

Made ‘Shot o’ Rum’ for the adults. I CAN NOT wait to share this recipe! You are in for a surprise on this jello shot!

and I finished up the favor bags! They include:

  • Rolos (Gold Nuggets)
  • Compass
  • Blow Favor
  • Swedish Fish (Shark Bait)
  • Red water bottle
  • Ring Pop

It was a busy weekend!

Enjoy,

Pirate Party Preparations{Part 2}

This week I was able to do a lot of party preparation. My birthday is the day before Mason’s party, so I am trying to get as much done as possible! I don’t want to spend my birthday cleaning house, making food, and finishing up decorations. Since yesterday was rainy - I was able to get a LOT done!

Invitations have been mailed! I made a whole line of party printables which I am using to create a lot of the decorations for Mason’s party.

I bought some full sheet shipping labels which I used to create stickers for the invitation envelopes.

image

I printed the Happy Birthday banner, cut out the pennants and strung them through black ribbon. I used a ruler and exacto to cut a slit for the ribbon to go through.

Then I set up an area on the patio for pictures. When each child arrives I am going to give them a bandana, pirate hat, earring, and eye patch. I found the trunk at Goodwill for $3 and the map at Habitat for Humanity for $5. I plan to send the pictures in the ‘Thank You’ cards.

Taking a few practice shots…

image

I used gold sparkle paper and a circle punch to cut out ‘coins’.

image

I put the 1 inch circles on the buffet tents for a little pizazz!

image

I sewed the 2 inch circles to make garland.

image

I put the printable welcome sign on a blank metal hanging sign from Hob Lob along with wooden swords. This will be on the front door for the day of the party to welcome guests.

image

I took a bucket from Target, which will be used as the drink bucket, and used my cricut to cut out vinyl letters to say ‘Shiver Me Timbers’.

image

Then remember my dessert table backdrop dilemma? I used broken down cardboard boxes and covered them with pirate fabrics.

Right now it seems like a lot of this and that – but I know it will all come together on party day!
