Textbooks

So, many of you may remember that I received a Kindle as my birthday gift. I love it so much and was recently talking to one of my tutoring students about it. I predicted that by the time she makes it to college, that many schools will have done away with textbooks for digital textbooks like the Kindle. She looked at me like I was crazy.

This morning I was browsing the internet and found an article about California. Apparently Schwarzenegger is considering switching all kids to a tech-based textbook rather than those old heavy paper-laden textbooks. It's a great idea. The days of kids lugging 2-3 textbooks home per night should be over. It's too much and it's too expensive. Not to mention the amount of paper that each textbook (and their accompanying workbooks) use. Aren't we supposed to be "going green" and all that crap? :)

In baby news, Matthew is now standing up in his crib (even though the mattress is at it's lowest level) and five days ago, he couldn't crawl forward. This kid is in fast forward! Hailey is furiously working on her first tooth...she is so stubborn though. She won't let me get my fingers in there to see what is going on. She clamps her mouth shut and gets really pissed at me if I persist. Gee, I wonder where she gets that from! We're going to have a good day though...we're going to Old Navy. Any time I can get out with them is a good day...I now love taking them out and they enjoy it too. Can't wait to see what Matthew can do by tomorrow...discuss nuclear physics? Pole vault? Make a gourmet dinner? We'll see...
