Behold the following story - one of my great hypocritical manifestations.
Note: I'm only sharing this with you because you are my beloved, faithful reader who I know must love me no matter what. If this is your first time to my blog...well, I apologize. Please, don't judge.
Okay. So by now (beloved, faithful reader), you know that here on the homestead, we strive to eliminate all kinds of nasty stuff from our diets & environments. Ranging from the way we cook, to the way we do laundry, to the way we clean our home - nothing is safe from my detoxifying ways. We strive to avoid toxins, all around.
Well, this my friends - is a toxin.
Hello, bleach. Welcome to my life.
This is my pre-colored head. My hair. My hair used to be blonder. Now, it naturally grows in...darker blond. Like the color of stale bread. Or dried out dirt. Or poo poo. And while I'd love to have the dark, flowing locks of a ethnic woman, my stubby blond eyelashes and blond eyebrows deter me from transitioning to the dark side. So here I lay - stuck in the middle. Stuck between honey golden waves and dark amber curls.
Oh, how tragic it is to be me!
That is why I love her.
So here I sit a hypocrite. I will tell you to switch to natural sweeteners to avoid processed food. Clean with vinegar to avoid chemicals. Drink kombucha to rid your gut of toxins. And then, I will sit here with bleach on my head...simply because I want to.
I'm so ashamed. So exposed.
But now you know.
a) Although "technically" I'd consider myself a blond, in these latter years, nature has taken me down an evil brown path.
b) I am willing to inhale toxic chemicals for vanity.
Phew. I feel like we've really connected just now, don't you? Tellin' the truth sure does make a women feel fantastic!
Or maybe I just feel that way because my hair is now blond (and trimmed!) and it no longer looks like a pile of dead brush on my head.
Either way is fine by me.
Cheers!
