Google was founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin and was initially created in 1996 as a research project by the duo whilst at Stanford University. Today Google is used by millions of people across the world every day, with over 50% of all searches on the internet being done through Google. It is also estimated that Google usage accounts for around 10% of the entire global internet usage.

In the UK Google is as big as anywhere else in the world. Across the country individual users and companies use Google search engine, the web browser Google Chrome and other Google products such as AdWords, Google Analytics and Google Insights. Although these were the most searched words on Google in the last 12 months there are other search terms on the rise in the UK. The terms 4od, iPhone, Lottery Results, sign in, Twitter and Amazon uk have all risen by over 40% in terms of searches in the UK in the last year and are close to breaking into the top 10 searches on Google.
